Celebrating diversity – conclusion of the art-minds project
The culture we live in and the freedom we enjoy today were once fought for by heroes – citizens, foreigners and/or representatives of minorities.
The ArtMINDS project, which we concluded with the event "Celebrating Diversity" together with cultural workers, translators, immigrants, students from the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor, and other guests, calls on us to recognize and appreciate the work of representatives of minorities and immigrants, foreigners who have created and enriched the culture of nations, including the Slovenian nation, both in the past and today.
On May 14, 2025, we celebrated diversity in Maribor at Kibli. In addition to presenting digital stories available at the page of the projectwe had the opportunity to listen to our fellow student, Ana Pavlinič, a student of pedagogy and English studies at the University of Maribor, who performed three songs. The event was also enriched by Dr. Lidija Dimkovska, a writer, poet, researcher of foreign and minority literature, translator of Slovenian and Romanian literature into Macedonian, and recipient of numerous awards at home and abroad, who was born in Skopje, North Macedonia.
The preparation of the memoirs and the photographic documentation was carried out by Erika Kozjan. And of course, there was plenty of time for networking and chatting over snacks and drinks. It was nice.
