Volunteer insight: Youth training in Lithuania, Kaunas
Training entitled 'Empowering youth work for a sustainable future. Focus on the environment' focused on the environmental dimension of sustainability. The program sought to empower participants (youth workers, young people, project managers) to actively contribute to a more sustainable future by integrating environmental aspects into their work. The training course held in Kaunas, Lithuania was attended by 26 young people from European countries, and the course was co-financed by the Erasmus+ program. Among others, one of our volunteers, Žiga, took part in the course, who described his experience as follows: During my time in Lithuania, I met so many wonderful people, all with a strong focus on learning and imparting their knowledge to young people. Among the many things we did, some activities remained in my memory, such as the nature walk (where we had workshops related to nature and the period), Eco-heroes (a workshop where we discussed how to protect nature by creating our "Eco-Heroes") and a game about food (where we played a game created by the organizers about problematic foods with accurate and useful information). In addition to the educational side of the event, there was also a cultural exchange during the training itself. With around 15 countries directly represented and a large number of people participating in the training, there was a wide range of cultures and fun exchanges between us. The experience made me more aware of our environment and the importance of knowing our daily habits, and it also gave me many great memories with great people that I still plan to stay in touch with.
