DIGITAL WORKER, Erasmus+, Spain - May 2023
From 24 May to 1 June, five young people from Slovenia participated in the Erasmus+ Digital Worker
Youth Exchange in Iscar, Spain. According to the young people, some of them already had some
knowledge about the topic when they arrived, while others knew nothing about it. But all of them
learned a lot, whether through the activities themselves or through the interaction with the other
participants.
Every day there were different activities and in the evening they met to learn more about the culture
and traditions of the countries involved in the project. It was a very fun and interesting experience
for all participants as all the young people tried to participate and represent their country in the best
possible way.
All in all it was a wonderful experience, with all the music they discovered, the food they tried, the
cultures they immersed themselves in, even if only for an hour - before the end of the project they
had no idea they were even in Spain. But they all wished that the project could have been extended
for at least another week.
And although the schedule was quite intense, they still got a lot out of it, either from the actual
activities or from just being there and getting in touch with everyone.
As the organisers told the young people in the meantime - it was certainly only a week in their life,
but it was also their life for a week.
Teja: I learned a lot about being social and interacting with others - I learned that if I want
something, I have to work for it now and not wait forever just because I am shy. It's better to laugh
about something later than to worry about all the "what ifs". I definitely felt that the project was too
short and I wish I could have stayed longer - but at the same time it made me much more excited to
get involved in future projects. I think projects like this are good for everyone involved and I would
definitely recommend them to everyone. Go out and explore the world and cultures - you will learn a
lot! And you will meet many new people who might become your friends!
Tilen: This was the first time I decided to participate in a youth exchange and I ended up experiencing
much more than I expected. An informal educational programme with great people and an
interesting topic gave me a new perspective on education. We made statements, arguments and in
the end conclusions that incorporated the opinions of all participants. This is one of the best ways to
get in touch with like-minded people from different parts of Europe. Youth meetings are a great
opportunity to improve team-building strategies, assign topics, learn other languages and socialise.
Miha: The youth exchange in Iscar, Spain, "called me back". The title of the project this time was
Digital Worker, which I think makes sense for this time and age group. We had a strong connection
between the members and the members from Portugal, Turkey, Italy, France and the host country
Spain, both during the activities and in their free time. What I liked most was getting to know the
culture in the evenings and dancing. We already know the organisers well and this time our cohesion
was even stronger. We are like a Spanish family. I feel alive and free among the young people. That
gives me a boost. I think I am getting closer and closer to my mission. Until the next time. With love!
Jure: I have not only gained professional knowledge, but also learned a lot about other cultures and
countries through the Erasmus+ Digital Worker Youth Exchange Programme. Working and
collaborating in an international team has given me a deeper understanding of diversity and improved my communication and intercultural skills. I will be able to use this knowledge in my future
work in an international environment where working with people from different cultures is crucial.
Very briefly - a valuable and very interesting experience!
