“Living is Emergency” – A Week Full of Learning, Culture, and Friendship

From 4th to 12th September young people from different countries (Spain, Turkey, Slovenia, Italy, Portugal, and Greece) gathered at an unforgettable Erasmus+ youth exchange, which took place under the main theme “Living is an Emergency”.

Already on the first day, the focus was on getting to know each other. Through ice-breaking activities and presentations participants quickly bonded, learning names and characteristics in a fun and interactive way.

Throughout the week, a rich and diverse programunfolded. Workshops, group projects, and discussions all revolved around the main theme of emergency preparedness, solidarity, and mutual help. One of the highlights was the creation of a group video projectthat addressed how to act in emergency situations and the importance of standing together in times of need.

In addition to hands-on activities, participants attended informative sessions on Erasmus+opportunities and learned about Youthpass, which was officially awarded at the end of the week as recognition of their learning achievements.

The exchange also encouraged intercultural dialogueEach evening, a different country presented its culture, traditions, and cuisine. These cultural evenings turned into journeys across Europe, strengthening friendships and fostering deeper intercultural understanding.

Exploration was also a big part of the experience. Early in the week, participants visited Xàtivowhere they learned about local natural disasters and how the community responds to them. On 8th September they enjoyed a memorable trip to Valenciaexploring museums, architecture, traditional food, and vibrant city life.

Workshops in the second half of the week focused on workshops, practical skills and simulationsteaching participants how to react and stay safe in case of natural disasters or crises. These activities provided valuable knowledge applicable in real-life situations.

Accommodation, food, and overall organisation received high praise from participantswho appreciated the effort and support of the organisers. Every day was filled with engaging activities, leaving no room for boredom.

Beyond skills and knowledge, the exchange offered countless opportunities for personal growth – from improving English and teamwork abilities to boosting self-confidence and cross-cultural understanding.
